  • Will Pocknell

    Practice Director

    Will grew up surrounded by design and designers. He studied Graphic & Architectural Design History and Business Management at the University of East London before working in some of the world’s leading brand and graphic design agencies. In these roles, he collaborated with a plethora of blue chip clients including O2, AstraZeneca, BBC, Comic Relief, Heathrow Express and Boots.

    After a decade in London, Will’s love for the countryside saw him make a return to living in rural Essex and taking up the role of Project Director for Pocknell Studio where he worked for 7 years on both commercial and domestic architectural projects. In 2011 he co-founded brand design consultancy Pocknell_Baird, where he continues to be a director.

    In 2021, following David’s death, Will returned to the Pocknell Studio to lead the business and continue the practice’s highly regarded architectural design work.

  • Mark Homer

    Architectural Design Lead

    After graduating from the School of Three Dimensional Design at Kingston Polytechnic, Mark commenced his architectural career in 1979, working for an Essex based architect specialising in commercial and residential buildings.

    During the 1980s he became involved in retail design taking up team leader and managerial roles at a number of high profile London design practices, carrying out projects throughout the UK, Europe and beyond including Ukraine, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. In addition to tackling numerous retail projects within major department stores, shopping malls and airports, Mark has been involved in developing global retail environments for various automotive brands such as Mazda, Suzuki and Harley Davidson.

    Mark first collaborated with the studio in the mid-90’s and again on the Saling Barn project in the early 2000’s. Mark joined the practice full time in 2011 working alongside David for over a decade.

  • Fern Pocknell

    Expert Generalist

    Having worked for some of the most well-regarded names in advertising, Fern joined the Pocknell Studio as David’s PA in 2002. This role involved her in every aspect of the practice’s workings and she quickly became indispensable. Fern’s role expanded to include support for the architectural and graphic design team as well as marketing for the practice.

    Fern left the practice in 2010 to run an online art retail business, returning in early 2022.

    As our resident Expert Generalist, Fern supports Will and Mark in the day-to-day running of the practice contributing to all areas of the business.
