The Pocknell Studio was established in it’s original form in the early 70’s by David Pocknell. Working in both the Graphic and Architectural design disciplines the studio quickly carved a niche for itself as a go-to for businesses that needed a considered and professional identity and market position.
The 80’s brought privatisation to the major utilities and David and his team created identities and collateral for Cable & Wireless, British Gas, BP, British Telecom and TSB. Bridging the decades, David and his team worked on a massive overhaul of the then London Transport identity (now Transport for London), rescuing the world famous roundel from near extinction.
The early 90’s saw David finally succumb to pressure from Pentagram and join as a Partner of the business. Here he and his team first worked with the City of London Corporation, a relationship that still remains to this day. It was also the moment when David completed his first barn conversion in Gloucestershire. Towards the end of the decade David returned to rural Essex and re-established Pocknell Studio in it’s original home.
Since 2000 Pocknell Studio has concentrated more and more on domestic and retail architecture. The studio is still invited to work on graphic design and branding projects and this work is facilitated in conjunction with graphic design agency DWHD.
Graphic design projects completed recently include work for ArtFund, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and the City of London Corporation.
